Prior to coming to Dubuque, Cass held senior leadership positions at several large companies, including Case Paper Co., National Dentex, Vision-Ease Lens and Heraeus Medical Components. Cass spent 18 years in his first company out of the Army, Vision Ease Lens, and progressed from shop floor supervisor in the then-$80 million company to the COO of the company that had grown to $250 million. Cass has worked with three different PE ownership groups spearheading the operational side of four successful transactions.
Cass graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point with a Bachelor of Science in Philosophy/Pre-Law, with a Systems Engineering minor. While at West Point, he earned 6 NCAA letters in three different sports: football, wrestling, and baseball.
After graduating from West Point, he served in the United States Army as a Company Commander, Platoon Leader, and Apache Pilot. He served as a Captain in the 101st Airborne Division and was deployed in Kuwait. During his time in the Army, he and his co-pilot claimed “TOP GUN” honors two years in a row, and he was recognized as the unit’s top junior officer leading to an early promotion and a Company Command while still a Lieutenant.
He earned his Executive MBA at the Carlson School of Management.
