Dubuque, IA – Effective on October 1, 2022, the UnityPoint Health – Visiting Nurse Association (VNA), located at 660 Iowa Street in Dubuque, will become the Women, Infant and Children (WIC) program provider for Dubuque, Delaware, and Chickasaw counties, in addition to their existing counties of Allamakee, Clayton, Fayette, Howard, and Winneshiek. The VNA was awarded the program for Dubuque, Delaware, and Chickasaw counties through the Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH).
“The VNA is very excited for the upcoming WIC transition,” Stacey Killian, director of the VNA, said. “WIC is an amazing program that aligns with other maternal, adolescent, and child health services currently being offered at the VNA. Enveloping WIC within VNA will streamline services to increase access and expand health benefits to individuals and families.”
Despite a change in providers, WIC participants will not experience a gap in care and will continue to be scheduled for services. WIC services provided at the VNA will include nutrition education, breastfeeding support, nutritious foods loaded to an eWIC card, and referrals to other services.
In a letter to existing WIC participants, Hillcrest Family Services CEO Mike Fidgeon wrote, “Hillcrest and VNA have been strong community partners for many years. We know the Dubuque VNA is committed to providing excellent care.”
