The restaurant & hospitality industry has been hit hard by the pandemic and resulting consumer behavior and government interventions over the past two years. As a result, the Chamber has strongly advocated for changes at the state level that would reduce the regulatory burden on businesses in this industry. Two bills are now making their way through the process and we hope you can take action to support their passage!
To help us advocate, please follow the below instructions to ensure we have maximum impact on the outcome!
Step 1: We’re asking you to send three separate emails as part of this alert – the email addresses for those are below.
Step 2: Copy and paste the below text into your email – make sure you take time to edit the highlighted portions before sending!

Dear Leaders of the State Government Committee & Senate Leadership,
I’m writing today in support of SF2172: Addressing differences in the three-tier alcohol system
This bill would simplify the current system for alcohol purchases by restaurants by allowing for all alcohol to be purchased either through a retail establishment or through a wholesaler. Our industry was hardest hit during the pandemic and this change would meaningfully reduce the regulatory burden on our operations. Additionally, we believe this flexibility is only more necessary due to the fact that supply chain issues are impacting delivery schedules, making it more difficult for establishments to plan their orders with limited storage space at their establishment.

Email 2: Key Senators for SF2213
Dear Leaders of the Commerce Committee & Senate Leadership,
I’m writing today in support of SF2213: Addressing liability and standards for third-party delivery
Third-party delivery helped to sustain restaurants through the worst of the pandemic. However, we learned along the way that some third-party apps utilize troublesome strategies to draw in customers, have little to no liability when delivering an order, and few standards for cleanliness and food safety. This bill would allow third-party apps to continue operation but with a higher standard of quality and clearly delineated liability so restaurants like mine are not liable for poor decisions on the part of third-party independent contractors.

We urge you to support HSB688/SF2213 which would address liability and standards for third-party drivers and apps.
Sincerely,
