MUSKEGON, Mich. — Dubuque Fighting Saints forward Stephen Halliday has become the United States
Hockey League’s leading scorer in the league’s Tier I regular season history. Halliday scored his 197th point
this evening, which passed Sean Farrell for the rights to the record.
Halliday, 19, drafted first overall by the Central Illinois Flying Aces in Phase I of the 2018 USHL Draft, has
put together an all-time great career across his 204 games in the league. Dubuque selected Halliday in the
Flying Aces dispersal draft on April 22, 2019, and he has gone on to be a Fighting Saints organizational alltime
great since then.
“Breaking the USHL Tier I all-time point record is a remarkable achievement, and we are extremely proud
of Stephen Halliday,” said President of Hockey Ops and General Manager Kalle Larsson. “Stephen’s impact
on our organization is significant. He came here as a young, talented player. And he has grown into the all
timepoints leader in both Fighting Saints and USHL history.”
He previously broke the record for the Fighting Saints’ Tier I scoring record by passing Shane Sooth on
February 17, 2022, and the organization’s all-time scoring record by passing Steve MacSwain on March
12, 2022. Halliday remains in range of several other records before his career in the United States Hockey
League comes to a close.
The veteran forward scored 34 points in 55 games in his debut season in the league with the Aces, added
another 38 in 46 games in his first year in Dubuque, 48 more in 52 games last season, and a career-high
77 points and counting in 51 games as a Fighting Saint this season. His exploits this season have earned
him USHL Forward of the Week honors on two occasions, and attention from the NHL, as he was ranked
108th among North American skaters on NHL Central Scouting’s Midseason Rankings.
“Stephen exemplifies what a Fighting Saint is, both on and off the ice,” Larsson continued. “He is the first
to reach out to new draft picks and affiliates, he stays in touch with former players, and he obviously has
an impact on the ice every single day.”
The Glenwood, Maryland native committed to Ohio State University on October 7, 2021, and signed his
National Letter of Intent to join the Buckeyes for the 2022–23 season.
