Shannon Lundgren 2021 Legislator of the Year

November 18, 2021- Des Moines, IA- On Monday, November 15th, Representative Shannon Lundgren was honored at the Iowa Events Center as the Iowa Restaurant Association’s 2021 Legislator of the Year for her willingness to fight the fights that need to be taken on, no matter how hard and to protect the people who need her most.
A highly visible community member and born leader, Shannon was recruited to run for the Iowa House and was elected in 2016. At the Capitol, she is well known for fighting tirelessly for what she believes in.
This year, that was bringing relief to Iowa’s restaurants and bars. Shannon worked with another house member and the Iowa Economic Development Authority to successfully create a $40 million COVID-relief fund exclusively for restaurants, bars, and other Iowa-based hospitality businesses. She also was instrumental in making cocktails-to-go permanent in the state. Pre-COVID, she fought tirelessly to help pass DRAM reform and recently introduced legislation to prevent predatory behavior from music licensing companies.
