Earth Day is the theme for this event. Two guest readers will kick things off. Then, the mic is open to anyone who wants to share their favorite earth related poems or writings.
Local author and Loras College English Professor Kevin Koch will be reading excerpts from his new work-in-progress Midwest Bedrock: A Search for the Center of Nature, along with readings from some of his previous work. Koch is the author of Thin Places, Skiing at Midnight and The Driftless Land. His work has also been featured in anthologies, such as The Driftless Reader and Contours.
Tim Fay, of Route 3 Press, will be reading from his current work in progress. Fay is known for the Wapsipinicon Almanac, an annual publication he curated and published from 1988 until 2018. It was handmade on antique letterpress equipment by Fay and featured stories, reviews, essays, and poems from area authors.
Koch’s books are available at River Lights. Handste letterpress works from Route 3 Press available at River Lights include, Cora, a short story by Poet Laureate Ted Kooser and The Wapsipinicon: A Gentle Refuge by Jeff Nekola.
