Dubuque Museum of Art Presents Biennial High School Student Art Exhibit

Exhibition Features Works by Students from all Three Dubuque High Schools

April 23, 2018 (DUBUQUE, IA) – The Dubuque Museum of Art (DuMA), in partnership with the Dubuque Community and Holy Family Schools, presents the Biennial High School Student Art Exhibit from May 3-13, 2018.

A reception will be held on Thursday, May 10 from 5-6:30 p.m. The event is free and open to students and their family members and the general public.

Every two years, the DuMA exhibits the work of talented high school artists from Dubuque Senior, Hempstead and Wahlert High Schools. The exhibition offers students the opportunity to learn about how to professionally display artwork in a museum setting. Students create, determine how best to exhibit, and install the works of art, which are selected by their art teachers.

"We are so pleased to share the works of these talented young artists and to celebrate arts education in our schools," said David Schmitz, executive director of the DuMA. "This project really reflects that the visual arts continue to have a strong and vibrant presence in our schools."

The 2018 High School Student Art Exhibit, along with the earlier K-8 Student Art Exhibit, are sponsored by Anderson-Weber Toyota & Chad and Laura Chandlee.

The museum is closed on Mondays. Daily admission rates are: $6 Adults, $5 Seniors, and $3 College/University Students.
