(DUBUQUE, IA) – The Dubuque Museum of Art (DuMA) has posted its full lineup of winter and spring youth art classes and camps.
Youth ages 6-14 can explore a variety of mediums and concepts, from the traditional to the unexpected. Classes are offered after-school, on weekends, and on selected holidays. Classes began January 16, 2020 and will continue through April.
Highlights include a workshop highlighting the spirit and achievements of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on January 20 (Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday). Students will investigate how art can influence social change and create an individual banner illustrating a cause they care about.
Youth can also explore connections between art and science; learn how early humans made art, with activities such as making cylinder seals, cave painting, and bead making; and create a mini solar system model, from clay, that can be baked and strung as a mobile.
Most classes are $15 for DuMA members and $20 for guests. Spring Break art camps are $30 for DuMA members and $40 for guests. Scholarships are available for those demonstrating financial need.
For more information and to enroll, visit www.dbqart.org/youth-camps or contact Director of Education Margaret Buhr at 563.557.1851 X. 115 or by email. Registration is also available on-site during regular museum hours.
