Six candidates recognized as aligned by 2021 Candidate Alignment Taskforce

Dubuque, IA – On Thursday, October 28, 2021, the Dubuque Area Chamber of Commerce officially approved the alignment status for the 2021 Dubuque City Council Race. The following candidates received alignment status in their bid for office:

  • Brad Cavanagh
  • David Resnick
  • Susan Farber
  • Ric Jones
  • Michaela Freiburger
  • Danny Sprank

The Dubuque Area Chamber engages in a rigorous process to reach a decision on the alignment that includes requiring candidates to fill out questionnaires and then requires an interview with current and former Chamber leadership. Those questionnaires are available for viewing at bit.Ly/DBQ2021Election.That Candidate Alignment taskforce scores the answers of each candidate. Candidates must score 70% or higher to earn alignment status.

“We developed this process recognizing that we must engage candidates for office and educate our members on the positions of their local officials and that we needed to be transparent and intentional in that process,” said Molly Grover, President & CEO of the Dubuque Area Chamber.

The 2021 Candidate Alignment Taskforce included:

  • Scott DeSousa: 2021-2022 Chamber Board Chair
  • Darin Harmon: 2020-2021 Chamber Board Chair
