Decorated Veteran: Basic Training Honor Graduate, Expert Infantry, Soldier of Year competition IA and NC, Operations Sargent.
Professional: Graphic Designer promoted to Marketing Director for an international event company. Twenty years insurance industry.
Qualified Leader: Wrestling Captain 4 of 8 years. Manager of the Year 3 years also lead Team of the Year. Processes I implemented were adopted as the norm. Hired, trained, developed new leaders. Volunteer of the Year. Involved in the arts, coaching and ministry.
Why?
This is the world I have been working in for years uniquely preparing me for this position with extensive experience in payment processing verification and administration.
Processes I implemented in organizations have been adopted as the norm saving time and money. I look forward to serving the entire county bringing my private sector professional experience to the auditor’s office. Foster true transparency and accountability in elected officials. Be transparent not just after a Freedom of Information Act request is filed. In a recent Supervisors meeting the Auditor incorrectly stated supervisors go through him as Custodian of the Courthouse.
What?
Implement more training and specific guidelines for payment verification and accountability used in private sector institutions. Improve voter involvement, work with rural communities on best voter access and locations to create ownership and increase turnout. To serve as an impartial clerk to the Board of Supervisors without pushing any agenda. As an impartial clerk for the Board of Supervisors I understand this is a position of service to all county residents. Work with Board of Supervisors respecting their authority. Be conscious to clear out partisan politics
finding solutions all agree on for the community we live in and care for.
How you intend to represent the business community?
Listen and respect the opinions of others to gain their perspective and focus on developing innovative solutions. Listen to the community and be accessible to how we can best serve.
Understand this is a position of service to all county residents. Work with Board of Supervisors respecting their authority. In a recent Supervisors meeting the current Auditor stated the supervisors go through him as the Custodian of the Courthouse, in effect he is NOT subject to their direction. Iowa Code 331.502 General Duties state 1. Have general custody and control of the courthouse, subject to the direction of the board.
What should the government’s role in business entail?
Understand the power of government is only granted on loan from the people served. Government roles are best fulfilled by citizens who are seek to serve others temporarily as a responsible member of the community rather than politicians who seek to retain power in office and make it a career.
Leadership style when entering an organization is to listen first, gain clear understand of the objectives, what is currently working well and seek for ways to improve the organization as a whole.
Work to lift up everyone to be the best office possible, understanding the buck stops at the top.
