Iowa Workforce Grant

HF447: Iowa Workforce Grant and Incentive Program

The Dubuque Area Chamber of Commerce and Iowa Chamber Alliance have supported efforts to incentivize residency in Iowa. Iowa is the only state in the union not to have doubled our population since the early 1900’s, and our businesses are facing historically low unemployment rates, making it difficult to sustain their business. The Workforce Grant and Incentive program is an effective solution to incentivize students who may otherwise leave, to stay in the state for the early post-graduate years.

ASK: Support HF447

Please take a moment to write an email to key legislators in support of HF447. Remember to add to the below templates with your personal story!

Representative Lindsay James

lindsay.james@legis.iowa.gov

Dear Rep. James,

I’m reaching out in support of HF447 which would create the Iowa Workforce Grant and Incentive Program. Iowa needs to do a better job of retaining our top talent, particularly skilled young professionals that are leaving our state after graduation.

HF447 would provide a small, but meaningful incentive for students to study high demand occupations and stay in the state for a year after graduation. That post-graduation year is key to helping students build lasting bonds and relationships in a community and increases the likelihood of them staying in Iowa long term.

We hope you can support this bill and urge the House to take the legislation up for a vote.

Sincerely,

XXX
