The Dubuque Area Chamber’s Young Professionals Symposium is designed to give its participants an out-of-the-box look at development. Whether it be professional or personal, we strive to present our members with information that will matter as they progress in their careers. We want to be that local resource where Dubuque’s workforce attends our events to help them flourish and succeed.

The YP Dubuque Symposium 2023 will be held on Wed., November 15th at Hotel Julien Dubuque. Register by November 8th at 1 PM to attend.

12:10 - 1:00 PM | Opening keynote | Iowa Senator Zach Wahls, District 43 | Lessons in Leadership | Exploring the opportunities, challenges, and useful lessons for the next generation of Iowa leaders. | Zach Wahls was first elected to the Iowa Senate in 2018. He was elected to his second term in 2022, representing Senate District 43, which includes Coralville, North Liberty, Solon, part of western Iowa City, and rural northeast Johnson County.

Certified yoga teacher Krissy Mueller will speak about the importance of prioritizing your well-being, mind, body, and soul while providing wellness tips and exercises you can take back to your desk.

  • 2A) Nonprofits panel | Panelists: Danielle Leibfried, United Way of Dubuque Area Tri-States, Cayla Schneider, Crescent Community Health Center, and Antonio Mouzon, Multicultural Family Center | Nonprofit organizations are integral to the Dubuque community. Committed to strengthening and uplifting the populations they serve, the panelists will discuss the ins and outs of their respective nonprofits, provide insight into their organizations’ impact on the community, and share how you can get involved with missions that mean the most to you.
  • 2B)  Professional Growth & Company Culture panel | Panelists: Troy Wright, Origin Design, Katie McClain, Dupaco Community Credit Union, and Kathie Rotz, Unity Consulting, LLC | The HR professionals in this panel are here to help you chart your path to professional development. From influencing company culture to pursuing continuing education opportunities, this session will cover all things career growth.
  • 2C) Small Business panel | Panelists: Marissa Hoffmann, The Midwest Girl, Rob Ricketts, Ricketts Clinic of Chiropractic, Alex Lee, The Spot Nutrition | This panel of small business owners will offer unique perspectives on entrepreneurship, the bustling small business community here in Dubuque as well as some insight into the larger business landscape. Each will share about both their successes and shortcomings and how you can foster and leverage the entrepreneurial spirit for your own professional growth.

3:30 – 4:30 PM | Closing keynote | Harvie Herrington, Motivational Speaker and Published Author | Understanding Your Why | Do you know your WHY? Through sharing my story, I will help you remember your WHY and the power it holds. Our personal and collective experiences shape how we view the world and interact within our communities. Together we will explore these experiences and how they help shape our why. Let’s find our way forward, together as an organization through the power of our collective why.
