MSA: Lange’s Projects Incorporate Sustainable Design

Designs often include sustainable features

Dubuque, Iowa: Nick Lange, PE, who recently joined the Dubuque office of MSA Professional Services, will provide municipal and private development services. Lange’s experience, which spans 10 years, includes working at a Platteville, Wisconsin engineering firm and another small company in Dubuque. He also previously worked at MSA.

“I enjoy the challenge of designing sites that provide needed infrastructure, while still being attractive,” Lange said.

Incorporating Sustainable Features
An increasing number of clients seek sustainable features and flooding continues to be a concern. While at MSA a few years ago, he worked on Green Alleys projects in the City of Dubuque. These alleys are expected to substantially reduce stormwater surface runoff and improve water quality. He’s also worked on other projects calling for detention ponds or rain gardens.

In addition, Lange has performed site planning for subdivisions, new buildings and parking lots.

“I take advantage of elevations and make as little work as possible for the contractor,” he said.

Lange earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and is a licensed professional engineer in Wisconsin.
