The show follows two best buddies, Marvin and Lloyd, as they spend their days in an ice-fishing shanty singing about life, love, and the one that got away. With a healthy appreciation for good bait, cold Leinie's, and the Green Bay Packers, these lovable characters offer audiences a hilarious glimpse into the secret culture of Wisconsin ice fishing.
Marvin is anxiously awaiting his big break on a cable television fishing show, convinced that his moment in the spotlight will make him a household name. Meanwhile, Lloyd is dealing with a disagreement with his wife over plans to spend their wedding anniversary at Lambeau Field watching the Packers take on the Bears. Adding to the antics is Ernie the Moocher, a fellow angler who frequently stops by the shanty looking for a beer or a stick of jerky. Ernie also hosts a hilarious, prize-filled audience participation halftime show.
Featuring fan-favorite songs such as “De Wishing Hole,” “Fish is de Miracle Food,” and “Ode to a Snowmobile Suit,” complete with a memorable zipper dance routine, Guys On Ice delivers an entertaining mix of music, comedy, and authentic Wisconsin charm.
Since its debut in 1998, Guys On Ice has delighted audiences with sold-out performances in communities throughout Wisconsin, including Fish Creek, Sturgeon Bay, Eagle River, Green Bay, Milwaukee, and Madison. The production has also entertained audiences across the country, from Oregon and California to New York.
This production features Doug Mancheski and Steve Koehler, who have performed the comedy together more than 1,000 times, including for Wisconsin Public Television. Mancheski is the original Marvin, having played the role since the show's inception in 1998. Koehler took over the role of Lloyd in 2002, and the two have continued to bring their longtime friendship and comedic chemistry to the stage.
