Grant Funding from State of Iowa Will Support Museum Education Programs, Operations

[July 26, 2017 (DUBUQUE, IA)] – The Dubuque Museum of Art (DuMA) has been awarded $10,000 from the Iowa Arts Council, a division of the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs, through its Cultural Leadership Partners program.
The Iowa Arts Council’s Cultural Leadership Partners program annually supports 56 arts, cultural and heritage organizations across Iowa, who were selected for funding through a competitive process. Cultural Leadership Partners demonstrate an exemplary record of programming, managerial excellence and community service on a year-round basis to the citizens of Iowa.
DuMA will invest the Cultural Leadership Partners grant funding in its ongoing education, community outreach and exhibition programs. Last year, the museum served more than 12,000 people through its on and off-site programs.
“We are incredibly grateful to the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs and to the Iowa Legislature for their continued investment in Iowa’s arts, culture and heritage organizations, including the Dubuque Museum of Art, “said DuMA Executive Director David Schmitz. “Public support of the arts and cultural organizations is essential to the growth and sustainability of our communities.”
Funding for the Cultural Leadership Partners Program is made possible by an appropriation from the Iowa Legislature to the Iowa Arts Council, a division of the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs, and federal appropriations from the National Endowment of the Arts.
The Dubuque Museum of Art (DuMA), founded in 1874 and accredited by the American Alliance of Museums in 2004, is among Iowa’s oldest cultural institutions. Named a national affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution in 2016, DuMA’s mission is to excite, engage and serve diverse communities within the Tri-State area through our collections, exhibitions and educational programs. We engage generations of people to their cultural heritage and exceptional art.
DuMA is located across from Washington Park in historic downtown Dubuque at 7th and Locust Streets.
Museum hours are Tuesday–Friday 10:00 A.M.-5:00 P.M., Saturday & Sunday 1:00 P.M.-4:00 P.M. Daily Admission is $6 for Adults, $5 for Seniors, and $3 for College/University Students.
