The CDC created this communication toolkit to help public health professionals, health departments, community organizations, and healthcare systems and providers reach populations who may need COVID-19 prevention messaging in their native languages. Please click here to see the toolkit.

 

Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) Symptoms

Call your doctor if you think you have been exposed to COVID-19 and develop a fever and symptoms, such as cough or difficulty breathing, call your healthcare provider for medical advice. These symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure. (This is based on what has been seen previously as the incubation period of MERS-CoV viruses.)

Reported illnesses have ranged from mild symptoms to severe illness and death for confirmed coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases.

Know the difference:

  • social distancing: a term applied to certain actions that are taken by Public Health officials to stop or slow down the spread of a highly contagious disease. The Health Officer has the legal authority to carry out social distancing measures.
  • quarantine: separates and restricts the movement of people who were exposed to a contagious disease to see if they become sick.
  • isolation: separating sick people with a contagious disease from people who are not sick.
