Who?
My name is Shannon Lundgren. I am a wife, a mom, a grandma, and an entrepreneur. We own and operate Trackside Bar & Grill and Lone Palm Travel, bringing firsthand experience and a deep understanding of business owners' challenges.

Why?
I am running for a fifth term because I am known for my strong listening skills and my diplomatic approach to controversial issues. I desire to impact my community positively and am committed to advocating for policies that empower small businesses.

What?
We have a real conundrum with Property Taxes in the State. I’d like to see the State Legislature work with our local governments to find a way to ease some of the burdens that property owners are facing. I will also continue working on Energy issues to make sure that Iowa has enough baseload to ensure economic growth, especially in Eastern Iowa. Large energy consumers need reliable energy sources to build and expand their businesses.

How you intend to represent the business community?
I will continue to represent the business community by being accessible and willing to learn more about their individual needs. Each year, I offer to visit businesses in District 65. This is a great opportunity to learn more about what they do and engage with their owners and management team to see how our state can reduce burdensome regulations that stifle growth. My cell phone number is available to all constituents; I respond to every call, text, and email personally and will continue to do that if re-elected.

What should the government’s role in business entail?
Get out of the way! The government isn’t historically significant in many things, but entrepreneurs are! We need to ensure that we are not overregulating and burdening our businesses. The Government should balance a fiscally conservative budget to continue lowering taxes, ensuring a level playing field for our entrepreneurs, and working with business owners to create programs to help them solve problems.
