Airport Terminal Landscaping Complete

Thirty-six volunteers from the Dubuque County Master Gardeners, University of Dubuque Aviation Students, Dubuque Regional Airport staff and other interested helpers came out to the Airport on Sunday, September 23 to plant over 1,900 perennials in the terminal area beds. The project, which took the group less than 4 hours, is part of the Airport’s on-going landscaping projects.

Cheryl Sheldon, Dubuque Regional Airport Accountant and Master Gardener, spearheaded the project along with the design from Benjamin Beard from Straka Johnson Architects. The plants are native to Iowa and once they have time to mature, the Airport’s terminal area will have a look that could be seen on a native prairie. Master Gardeners will oversee ongoing maintenance of the beds.
