Chamber’s Legislative Priorities for Transportation

The Dubuque Area Chamber of Commerce supports local and regional transportation infrastructure improvements to provide connectivity for Dubuque area businesses, and to assist in the development of Dubuque as a growing residential, commercial, and leisure destination.

  • Secure funding of $78 million to complete the 6.1 mile Iowa Highway 32/ “Southwest Arterial” to connect the Dubuque Industrial Center West, near U.S. Highway 20, to the Dubuque Technology Park, near U.S. Highway 151/61

  • Secure Federal and Local funding of $29 million to improve commercial air service facilities at the Dubuque Regional Airport through terminal improvements

  • Secure an additional hub destination to expand the connectivity of flights from the Dubuque Regional Airport

  • Secure funding methods to fully support Iowa’s TIME-21(Transportation Infrastructure Moves the Economy in the 21 st Century) Program

  • Secure funding of $234 million to complete the 6.5 mile Galena Bypass

  • Secure funding of $751 million to complete a four lane U.S. Highway 20 from Galena, Illinois to Freeport, Illinois

  • Based on Route C in the Amtrak feasibility study report, secure capital improvement costs at a minimum total of $32.6 million (includes $300,000 for the track rehabilitation and facilities in Dubuque), and annual subsidy costs a minimum total of $2.9 million to provide passenger rail service from Dubuque to Chicago

  • Secure funding of $10 million to complete a downtown intermodal parking facility located in the Port of Dubuque
