Transportation

One of the many advantages of living in Dubuque and the Tri-state area is the lack of transportation challenges! There is no such thing as ‘rush hour’ or long commutes into the area. Our transportation systems continue to improve, due to concerted lobbying efforts at the state and federal level to gain funding for road construction and air service enhancements.

Dubuque is served by Highway 20 that stretches from central Iowa through Dubuque to central Illinois. Much of it is four-lane. Highway 52 is a scenic two-lane that hugs the river’s banks and stretches into northeast Iowa, southwest Wisconsin and northwestern Illinois. Highway 61/151 is two and four-lane, and carries travelers south to the Quad Cities and further south, west to Iowa City and onto Interstate 80, and north into Wisconsin and onto Madison.

The Dubuque Regional Airport serves both business and leisure travelers with four inbound and outbound flights a day, seven days a week, from Dubuque to Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport, through American Eagle. Private and corporate jets also make use of the great central location of the airport for travelers as well.
