[Dubuque, Iowa] - Technori Dubuque will be hosting its second startup showcase on May 25 at the Hotel Julien Dubuque from 5-10 p.m. Technori's mission is to create momentum for startups by building a community around tech and innovation that enables early stage companies to get in front of members of the community to connect with their first customers, employees and investors.

Networking, innovation, and sharing Iowa tech startup stories is what this event is all about.

Erin Dragotto, Vice President of Development at the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium, was involved in Technori based in Chicago, and saw the opportunity to bring the event to Dubuque. Realizing the need for another person to help make Technori Dubuque a success she asked Emily Goodmann, Assistant Professor of Communications at Clarke University, to join her.

According to Dragotto, Dubuque makes an ideal place for showcasing technology start-ups because you will find different ideas here in the Dubuque area that you wouldn’t in bigger cities.

“Dubuque tech start-ups have a lot of ag based ideas. You don’t see that in places like LA or Atlanta.”

During the cocktail hour leading up to the presentations, this year’s Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!) students will have trade show booths set up in the Hotel Julien mezzanine to promote their businesses and non-profits that they have been working on since October 2016. This is the big launch for the students in the program who have gone through the process of brainstorming ideas, writing a business plan, and presenting their ideas to investors. The students will have items showcasing their businesses and some will even have products for sale. The tradeshow is free to attend.

Beginning at 7 p.m., Technori Dubuque will feature five newly launched Iowa technology based startups to present their ideas and market their new businesses in front of members of the startup and entrepreneurial community. Each startup will be given five minutes to present what their business is and how it benefits and affects the public. Startup participants hope to gain traction and jump start their investment and shine a spotlight on what is happening in Iowa and the tri-states region.

Founded in 2010, Technori is the world’s startup showcase. To date, 300+ companies have presented at over 75 events and gone on to raise more than $260,000,000 in venture capital. In fact, Technori startups now employ over 2,500 people and have gone onto become some of the top accelerators in the world.

This event is made possible by the support of the lead sponsor Cartegraph and additional sponsors Startup Dubuque and the Telegraph Herald. The event is hosted by the Dubuque Area Chamber of Commerce.
