HSB 187 Threatens Dubuque Area Growth

Urge our legislators to oppose this economy-killing legislation!

HSB 187 will gut economic initiatives in Iowa and eliminate refundable tax credits and raise taxes on Iowa business by $163 million over four years.

• Iowa has one of the most cumbersome tax codes in the country and, as a result, Iowa businesses depend upon tax credits to remain competitive and to maintain operations in Iowa.
• The House majority is not only moving to gut these critical credits but is doing so on what is only a vague promise of future tax reform. Iowa businesses are willing to consider changes to tax credits, but ONLY in the context of comprehensive tax reform. Anything else is just another way to raise our taxes.
• This bill will be eligible for a floor vote in the Iowa house early next week.  Your immediate action is needed to kill this bill and protect economic development in Dubuque and all of Iowa.
• Please contact your legislators TODAY to let them know this bill is bad for Iowa business and goes against our state's job creation efforts.
