HF 652-the GRASSLEY TAX CREDIT BILL (Formerly HSB 187) THREATENS DUBUQUE AREA GROWTH!

Urge our legislators to oppose this economy-killing legislation!

HF 652-Grassley Tax Credit Bill, will gut economic initiatives in Iowa and eliminate refundable tax credits and raise taxes on Iowa business and renewable fuels by $163 million over four years.

Iowa has one of the most cumbersome tax codes in the country and, as a result, Iowa businesses depend upon tax credits to remain competitive and to maintain operations in Iowa.

The House majority is not only moving to gut these critical credits but is doing so on what is only a vague promise of future tax reform. |

 Any attempt to modify or reduce and make tax credits unworkable outside the context of comprehensive tax reform is simply an exercise in raising taxes.

This bill will be eligible for a floor vote in the Iowa house this week.  Your immediate action is needed to kill this bill and protect economic development in Dubuque and all of Iowa.

The benefits of tax credits exist throughout the state in communities big and small.  It has proven to be a strong economic tool for Iowa taxpayers stimulating local economic growth, catalyzing private investment and creating jobs.

Please contact your legislators TODAY to let them know this bill is bad for Iowa business and goes against our state's job creation efforts.
