Owned and operated by Toy Farmer, the Toy Show is held on the first weekend in November each year since 1978. The show, lovingly labeled as "The Grandaddy of 'Em all," attracts about 15,000 people each year. Over 400 tables of farm toys and collectibles are for sale! A show auction is held on Saturday.

Christian tradition has carried two “stories” about God. One story has told of human isolation from God because of a “Fall,” the “theological story” of Jesus who won access to God in heaven. The other story reminds us that “God” is an everywhere reality beyond all human concepts. Jesus is revealer of this Presence in which we live and move and have our being. The goal of prayer is to deepen our awareness of this Presence and to challenge us to give the best possible human expression to it. We will use the contemporary “story” about our universe to deepen awareness and appreciation of God’s universal presence, to reflect on the role of Jesus as revealer of this Presence always with us, and to examine the implications for prayer and liturgy.

The hills of Louis Murphy Park will be alive with glitter and glitz as the glow of thousands of Christmas bulbs and animated displays light up the 13th annual Reflections in the Park: A Hillcrest Lights Festival. The festival is open 41 days to the public November 22 through January 1 from 5:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. All new displays will be blinking their colors and strutting their charm to an estimated 50,000 visitors.
Cost: $7.00 per car benefits the many programs and services offered by Hillcrest Family Services

This Christmas operetta classic tells the story of Amahl, a crippled boy who has a problem with telling tall tales. His mother does not believe him when he tells her that there is an amazing star "as big as a window" outside. Later that night, he is amazed when three splendidly dressed kings arrive at their house seeking a place to rest from their journey to visit the Christ child. The mother wishes to send a gift but has nothing to send. Amahl, too, has nothing to give the Christ Child except his crutch, but he willingly offers it. Immediately upon saying this, his leg is miraculously healed, and he joyfully leaves his mother and goes off with the Magi to see the child and give his crutch in thanks for being healed.

Chapter 6 is the only vocal ensemble to win both The International Competition of Collegiate A Cappella (2001) and the prestigious National Harmony Sweepstakes (2004). Among subsequent honors, Chapter 6 has appeared with The National Symphony Orchestra at The Kennedy Center, and was featured on "American Idol: Season 7" in conjunction with bandmate Luke Menard’s Top 16 run.
Their Christmas show brings perfect family entertainment to Dubuque on this Thanksgiving weekend.

Ken is currently the Director of Pace e Bene Nonviolent Service based in Chicago. He directed the From Violence to Wholeness program and has authored five books. Come and learn how you can contribute to building a culture of peace!

The Salvation Army will sponsor a Hawaiian Party for senior citizens (age 50 and older) on Thursday, August 5, 2010 at The Salvation Army building, 1099 Iowa Street. The potluck will be held at 11:30 A.M. Each person must bring a dish to pass that will serve six and their own table service. Brats, potato chips, baked beans, coffee and punch will be provided by The Salvation Army. Free blood pressure screening will be held from 9:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. The show’s Tony Award winning creative team has created the unlikeliest of hit musicals about the unlikeliest of heroes: a quirky yet charming cast of outsiders for whom a spelling bee is the one place where they can stand out and fit in at the same time. Six young people in the throes of puberty, overseen by grown-ups who barely managed to escape childhood themselves, learn that winning isn’t everything and that losing doesn’t necessarily make you a loser.

Art on the River public art exhibit, offered by the City of Dubuque, is located along the RiverWalk in the Port of Dubuque. Stroll the picturesque walkway near the Mississippi and view ten pieces of public art that will have you and your family talking, smiling and taking pictures. Sculptures can be viewed sunrise to sunset year-round, the exhibit is free, and is accessible.
