An evocative tale of the epic battle between good and evil, “Jekyll & Hyde” is based on Robert Louis Stevenson's classic story about the brilliant Dr. Henry Jekyll, a young doctor and research scientist who, distraught over his father's mental illness, embarks upon a quest to isolate the dual elements of good and evil that are constantly struggling for supremacy inside every human being. However, when his experiment backfires, Jekyll inadvertently gives life to Edward Hyde, his evil alter ego, a murderous being who will let loose a reign of terror on the city of London and those who had ridiculed Jekyll's research. Features the haunting musical numbers “Lost in the Darkness,” “Façade,” and “This is the Moment.”

This is the love story of Ethel and Norman Thayer, who are returning to their summer home on Golden Pond for the forty-eighth year. He is a retired professor, nearing eighty, with health problems - but still as tart-tongued, observant and eager for life as ever. Ethel, ten years younger, delights in all the small things that have enriched their long life together. They are visited by their divorced, middle-aged daughter and her dentist fiancé, who then go off to Europe, leaving his teenage son behind for the summer. The boy quickly becomes the "grandchild" the elderly couple has longed for. In final, deeply moving moments of the play, Norman and Ethel are brought even closer together by the incidence of a mild heart attack. Time, they know, is now against them, but the years have been good and, perhaps, another summer on Golden Pond still awaits.

Teams of 21 people will paddle Taiwan dragon boats in a 300 meter sprint race on the mighty Mississippi River. Divisions will include the novice to the expert, as well as juniors and Breast Cancer Survivors. Vendors will also be on site for participants and spectators.

Welcome to the world of the RUGRATS! The RUGRATS are Tommy, our one-year-old hero, and his friends, Chuckie, Phil & Lil and his cousin Angelica. The RUGRATS, in their usual offbeat fashion, turn a typical rainy afternoon into an adventure of the imagination. When Chuckie laments that the world is becoming too scary, Tommy decides to do something about it and creates the People-ator, a tool which makes inanimate objects come alive. Tommy’s plan quickly backfires when Angelica takes his invention. As the RUGRATS travel over oceans and battle Reptar to keep Angelica from using the People-ator for her own purposes, Chuckie realizes that the world no longer seems as scary – not because Tommy changed the world, but because Chuckie has found that he can survive scary things through his own courage and the help of his 'bestest' friends.

The world famous Colts host eight top drum and bugle corps in this annual competition at Senior High. Over 1,000 performers ages 12-21 will entertain in spectacular movement, music and excitement. One of Dubuque's largest outdoor events of the year. Both reserved and general admission seating is available. The show starts at 7:00 p.m.and lasts about 2 1/2 hours.

AIDS and both its physical and emotional complications pervade the lives of Roger, Mimi, Tom, and Angel; Maureen deals with her chronic infidelity through performance art; her partner, Joanne, wonders if their relationship is worth the trouble; Benjamin has sold out his Bohemian ideals in exchange for a hefty income and is on the outs with his former friends; and Mark, an aspiring filmmaker, feels like an outsider to life in general, always behind the camera recording the events but never playing a part.

The play is inspired by local events and revolves around Ruth Ocean, an octogenarian community organizer deeply involved in the arts and leftie politics. After she learns she has Alzheimer’s, she decides to commit suicide and characteristically, throws herself a good-bye party on her "last day on this earth." The play focuses on Ruth and her difficult relationship with her daughter, Naomi who would rather commit her mother than allow her suicide.

The Arthritis Walk is a team or individual event geared toward those with arthritis, focusing on bringing awareness about the disease and its effects by offering personal stories and a health fair. Many participants walk in honor of a friend or family member. Those with arthritis wear our signature “blue hat” to show they are working to control their disease. In all locations the Arthritis Wellness Expo is a huge component offering the latest arthritis-related health issues to those participating in the walk. Dogs Welcome! Bring your wagging friend to the Arthritis Walk. Your dog is an important part of the family too, walk in honor of your four legged friend to help end their arthritis pain.

Harry Witherspoon suddenly learns an uncle he never met has left him a six million dollar inheritance on the condition that he take Uncle Anthony’s corpse to Monte Carlo. He accepts the challenge and travels to Monte Carlo with a cassette tape, a heart-shaped box containing six million in diamonds, and Uncle Anthony’s corpse in a wheelchair. Meanwhile, an optometrist, Vinnie Di Ruzzio, is visited by his legally blind sister, Rita La Porta who reveals she has accidentally murdered her; that the six million dollars in diamonds she and her lover had embezzled from her gangster husband is gone; that her lover was Harry's Uncle Anthony; and that the heart-shaped box full of jewels is now en route to Monte Carlo! Mistaken identities, mobsters and a hilarious chase for the fortune ensues!

Get ready for the 5th Annual “Marching for Maria House” and “Trotting for Teresa Shelter” Event on Saturday May 1, 2010. This event is a fun way for individuals of all ages, families and teams to get some exercise and raise money for Maria House and Teresa Shelter. Last year almost 400 people participated in this 5K run / walk and raised about $17,000 net profit for homeless women and children. The goal of this year’s event is to raise over $20,000 to provide transitional housing and emergency shelter to homeless women and children.
“Marching for Maria House” and "Trotting for Teresa Shelter" will once again hold an indoor walk on the comfortable, indoor track at Clarke College Kehl Center. Volunteers will be on hand to help serious walkers count their laps.

At the heart of the group is Chris Norman, whose brilliant and imaginative flute playing has contributed to groups as diverse as the Baltimore Consort, Skyedance, Helicon, Chatham Baroque, Concerto Caledonia, as well as Hollywood soundtracks and seven solo recordings. He was also the flute player in the hit movie soundtrack to Titanic!

The Dubuque City Youth Ballet present Shakespeare's classic love story. Titania and Oberon, Queen and King of the Enchanted Forest, are quarreling. Oberon charges his favorite Fairy, Puck, to dot Titania’s eyes while she sleeps with the magic flower so when she wakens, she will love the first she sees, which will be Oberon. Hermia, Lysander, Demetrius and Helena all enter the forest looking for love. However, Puck makes mischief, and all goes awry! Titania opens her eyes to a village actor who has stumbled into the forest with a donkey’s head stuck on his. Puck has mistaken Lysander for Demetrius, and Lysander opens his eyes to adore Helena. Oberon orders a deep fog to cover the forest as he un-muddles the mischief of Puck. When the fog lifts, all is set right.

Directly following the performance, the UI Alumni Association will host a reception with the Jazz Ensemble and James Dreier, UI associate professor of music, who will answer questions and discuss upcoming plans for the department.

Kids auditions will be from 2:30pm – 5pm for kids second grade through eighth grade in the fall 2010. Boys from 2:30-4 and girls from 4-5pm. No prepared song or reading is required for the kids audition. Kids will be taught a selection from Beauty & The Beast.
Adult auditions will begin on February 14th at 5pm. Roles are available for actor/singers of all ages. Participants are asked to prepare a short musical theatre selection, and a short comic reading of no more than 60 seconds each.

On Saturday evening at 7:00 PM a group of talented magicians from the International Brotherhood of Magicians will be performing their illusions and mischief for the entertainment of the entire family. The proceeds from this event will be used to support the mission of Area Residential Care.
We will begin the evening with a "Meet the Magicians" VIP event at 6:00 PM. The magicians will mingle among the group and everyone attending will learn a "hands on" magic trick. This event is limited to 25 people, and includes reserved seating in the auditorium.

Three questions we often ask ourselves throughout the stages of our lives are, “Where am I?”, “Where am I going?”, and “What do I need to get there?” Join us as we celebrate from childhood dreams to the wholeness of coming to age. Leaders Jeanette Bell, Trish Jones, and Judith Wojcik have been facilitating women's retreats as a team for 10 years. All three women have been trained from adolescent through adult in grief counseling. Their current focus has been empowering women to become their authentic selves.

The quintet's educational programs and master classes have been presented in such prestigious settings as the Juilliard School and the Yale School of Music. They regularly perform radio broadcast concerts for Wisconsin Public Radio.

The martial and healing arts of China and East Asia are powerful systems for working with energy! Kundalini Yoga is a very different system for working with the energies of the total human being. Are these different approaches too different to complement one another? Not at all! Starting January 11th, Jim Earles will be co-instructing a 3-month series of classes to explore the differences and similarities between Kundalini Yoga and many other healing and strengthening modalities being taught in our area.
