However, when his experiment backfires, Jekyll inadvertently gives life to Edward Hyde, his evil alter ego, a murderous being who will let loose a reign of terror on the city of London and those who had ridiculed Jekyll's research. On Golden Pond
Grand Opera House

This is the love story of Ethel and Norman Thayer, who are returning to their summer home on Golden Pond for the forty-eighth year. He is a retired professor, nearing eighty, with health problems - but still as tart-tongued, observant and eager for life as ever. Ethel, ten years younger, delights in all the small things that have enriched their long life together. They are visited by their divorced, middle-aged daughter and her dentist fiancé, who then go off to Europe, leaving his teenage son behind for the summer. The boy quickly becomes the "grandchild" the elderly couple has longed for. In final, deeply moving moments of the play, Norman and Ethel are brought even closer together by the incidence of a mild heart attack. Time, they know, is now against them, but the years have been good and, perhaps, another summer on Golden Pond still awaits.

Welcome to the world of the RUGRATS! The RUGRATS are Tommy, our one-year-old hero, and his friends, Chuckie, Phil & Lil and his cousin Angelica. The RUGRATS, in their usual offbeat fashion, turn a typical rainy afternoon into an adventure of the imagination. When Chuckie laments that the world is becoming too scary, Tommy decides to do something about it and creates the People-ator, a tool which makes inanimate objects come alive. Tommy’s plan quickly backfires when Angelica takes his invention. As the RUGRATS travel over oceans and battle Reptar to keep Angelica from using the People-ator for her own purposes, Chuckie realizes that the world no longer seems as scary – not because Tommy changed the world, but because Chuckie has found that he can survive scary things through his own courage and the help of his 'bestest' friends.

Retreat: Dancing with God
Shalom Retreat Center, 1001 Davis St., Dubuque, IA

Monday, June 28, 5:30pm – Saturday, July 3, 9:30am

Director: Charles Wehrley, CSsR
-Masters of Divinity, CTU, Chicago, IL

Dancing with God is a life-long lesson in learning to let go of our need to control life and allowing God to take the lead. Letting go requires faith, and faith requires that we believe in the great intangibles of life. This means we come to believe in the mystery of life, even when common sense tells us not to believe. It means we must also learn to trust ourselves and to believe in those people we love. Once we surrender and allow God to lead us through life’s dance, our missteps are fewer and so are our miseries. We find peace in the dance of life and greater happiness in each step. Daily Eucharist and two conferences.

Offering: $300. $285, if registered by May 28. $50 deposit.

7:00 – 9:00pm

Facilitator: Margaret Jungers OSF

Because we grow accustomed to hearing the passion narrative each year, it may lose its impact for us. We might think Mel Gibson’s portrayal of the passion holds the answer to understanding this mystery. How can the passion move us to deeper levels in our spiritual life as we anticipate Good Friday? What is its power for us right here and now? The mystery and significance of Jesus death will unfold for each of us in a personal way as we view and discuss two short videos on this topic by Ron Rolheisser.

In "The Wedding Singer" its 1985 and rock-star wannabe Robbie Hart is New Jersey's favorite wedding singer. He's the life of the party, until his own fiancee leaves him at the altar. Shot through the heart, Robbie makes every wedding he plays as disastrous as his own. Enter Julia, a winsome waitress who wins his affection. Only trouble is Julia is about to be married to a Wall Street shark, and unless Robbie can pull of the performance of the decade, the girl of his dreams will be gone forever. With a brand new score that pays loving homage to the pop songs of the 1980s, "The Wedding Singer" takes us back to a time when hair was big, greed was good, collars were up, and a wedding singer just might be the coolest guy in the room.
