IH Mississippi Valley Blues Festival

The IH Mississippi Valley Blues Festival is one of the longest running blues festivals in the nation. This year’s festival features 28 blues artists from across the country.
Headliners include Magic Slim, a national treasure and six-time National Blues Award Winner, performing with the Teardrops; Eddy “The Chief” Clearwater, nominated for Traditional Blues Male Artist of the Year and Traditional Blues Album of the Year; and Saffire—The Uppity Blues Women on their final tour.
The festival is being held July 2 – 4 at LeClaire Park, a blues-inspiring outdoor venue located at the crossroads of U.S. Route 61 and the Mississippi River.
Advance three-day passes are available for $30 through Ticketmaster. One-day tickets will be sold at the gate for $5 for admission on July 2, and $15 for admission July 3-4. Children ages 14 and under will be admitted free if accompanied by an adult with a ticket.

Asbury in the Park Music Festival

The Asbury Area Civic and Recreation Foundation is hosting the “Music in the Park Festival” on Saturday, July 11, 2009, from Noon to Midnight. This is a free family event with a variety of music, entertainment, food, children’s games and family activities.

There will be new and exciting inflatables, games and other activities for everyone to enjoy! Several food vendors will also be available, offering their many different types of food.

Entertainment during the daytime will include some local talent as well as some from the surrounding area. There will also be a petting zoo, face-painting and a variety of other fun activities. The headline band, “Badfish” entertains from 8:30 pm to Midnight.

Shuttle service will be available that day as well, with stops throughout the City of Asbury as well as several outlying areas.

We encourage everyone to come out to Asbury Park, located on Asbury Road near Casey’s, to enjoy all the music, games, food and fun!

2009 Art on the River Opening Celebration

They are all part of the City of Dubuque's 2009 Art on the River temporary public art exhibit located along the Riverwalk in the Port of Dubuque. Stroll the picturesque walkway near the Mississippi and view ten pieces of public art that will have you and your family talking, smiling and taking pictures. In its fourth year, the temporary public art exhibit drew 68 entries from 36 artists in 11 different states. The exhibit will be on display through June 2010. Art on the River is part of the Dubuque City Council’s Arts and Culture initiative. The Grand River Center, 500 Bell Street, 5:00 - 6:30 p.m., July 15 with a short program at 5:30 p.m. and the opportunity to meet some of the artists. Hors d'oeuvres and cash bar.
